As a medical, academic and research institution, OHSU, located just south of downtown Portland, operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Despite being a major transportation destination in central Portland, those traveling to, from and between the two OHSU campuses at night face significant transportation limitations and challenges.
These include: limited parking, two narrow access roads, zero transit options from 12:30 AM to 4:30 AM, and dauntingly steep and wooded pathways for those who bike and walk. Improving night transportation access to OHSU has the potential to positively impact the institution’s and region’s economy, as well as the general health and well-being of the OHSU and surrounding communities.
